Pen and ink is a bit of a high wire act for obvious reasons: you can't erase. On the other hand, there is nothing so rewarding as producing a classic looking pen and ink drawing.

Sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a bit. Your house may have a combination of interesting architecture and a beautiful garden which might suit a mixture of pen drawing and watercolour.

Visualisations of buildings before they are built.
Architectural illustration helps architects and developers to communicate their ideas and plans using visual representations.
A powerful tool that taps into our need to imagine or visualise, architectural illustration, in common with all forms of architectural representation, allows the viewer to see into the future.
Watercolour and pen and ink architectural illustrations are created by hand and finished on high-quality watercolour paper. The usual turnaround time is from 1-2 weeks, although I can accommodate tighter timescales of course!

Capture memories with a house portrait!
A thoughtful and unique gift, a visual representation of happy memories and time well spent. Just be prepared that your recipient might have tears of joy in their eyes!!
“I want to let you know my Dad received and opened his gift last weekend and (unsurprisingly)he LOVES IT!!!! He absolutely loves it and finds it amazing!! He said you did a remarkable job and made the house even better than it is in real life." Claire, London.
“Thank you again so much for all your patience and for your fantastic piece of work. I received my print as well and it’s beautiful.” Ruth, Winchester.
Bringing out the beauty of the arches surrounding the central courtyard was very important to me in this house portrait.
Since the house was in France, I couldn’t visit to make a drawing or take better photographs, so using 1-Point Perspective I very carefully re-drew the arches from the comfort of my own studio.
At the start of each commission I always re-draw each composition using receeding lines of perspective and vanishing points. Photography can ‘flatten’ perspective, so I find it’s best to do this. Not each portrait is as complicated a re-draw as this, but it was worth it!
Every picture tells a story ......
I'm often asked to paint out buildings and add in trees and flowers. These images show how this process works.
If there is anything you need removed or added from your house portrait, just ask - it’s no problem at all. I’ve also been known to include owners’ pets into the painting.
Congratulations!
